Profile
Prof. Anne Syomwene Kisilu is the Dean of the School of Education, Arts & Social Sciences at KCA University. She is a Professor of Education specialising in Curriculum, Educational Media and Technology. She is an accomplished scholar with over 17 years of experience in university teaching and research in Curriculum Studies, Pedagogy, Educational Media and Technology. She has outstading administrative experience having served in various leadership roles in higher education. Prof. Syomwene has published over 60 articles in refereed journals, alongside several books and book chapters, and has supervised more than 20 doctoral and 40 master’s students to completion. Her expertise, academic leadership and commitment to educational transformation makes her a valuable asset to the School of Education, Arts & Social Sciences.
As Dean, she provides academic and administrative leadership to the School of Education, Arts & Social Sciences, supporting the delivery of quality teaching, research and innovation.

Research Grants
- November 2022 to April 2026 – I was the project leader of African-German Centre of Excellence in Educational Research Methodology and Management in East and South Africa (CERM-ESA) that was established in 2014 and funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Every year, from 2014 to 2026, DAAD funded post graduate tuition and research scholarships to Moi University.
- In October, 2024, I chaired a committee that wrote a proposal to Commonwealth of Learning for funding to develop online teaching modules and convert the conventional Masters of Education (MEd) Programme into an online Moodle-based programme (Master of Education in Educational Communication & Technology). Grant paid to Moi University.
- In July – August, 2023, I chaired a committee that wrote proposals and were offered a tender by The Lutheran World on provision of consultancy services – Conducting Certificate training on basic Kenya Sign Language and braille at Kakuma and Dadaab Refugee camps. Grant paid to Moi University.

- November 2022 to April 2026– I was the project leader of African-German Centre of Excellence in Educational Research Methodology and Management in East and South Africa (CERM-ESA) that was established in 2014 and funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The project was a collaboration between Moi university, University of Oldenburg – Germany, Nelson Mandela University, University of Dares-salaam – Tanzania and Uganda Management Institute – Uganda
- 2024 and April, 2026– I was the project leader of Erasmus+ collaborations with Trnava university, Slovakia and Ostfold University, Norway. I took part in Erasmus+ teaching and training programme at both universities.
- 2021 to 2026-External Examination for international universities – Served as External examiner of post graduate thesis for Northern Caribbean University, Jamaica and UNICAF university.
- Facilitated Philippines-Kenya Education Network (PEN) 1stvirtual Student Teachers’ International Congress on the theme ‘Student Teaching Internship’ on 11th June 2021.
